POLISH MONGOLIA

Photograps 2004

Mongolia will always remain in my memory primarly as a Buddhist country, treeless landscapes and ubiquitous wafting fragrance of slightly sour and fermenting cheese. It was a 2 week stop country on my transsiberian way to China. Within this time I visited only the capital Ulaanbaatar and hiked for a few days around the lake Terchijn Cagaan untill my knee injury.
It is a relatively large country with very poor and undeveloped road system (there are cart and dirt roads) and only 1 railway line connecting Northern border with Russia and Southern with China. So traveling somewhere apart the railway is very challenging when relying on public infrequent transport.

TYPE OF EXPEDITION: Backpacking, hiking.
APPROACH: Trans-Siberian railway 8 days one way.
PERIOD: 18/06/2004 do 14/08/2004.
DURATION: 16 days in Mongolia + 27 days in China.
AVERAGE COST OF LIVING: 4.8 USD per day.
PHOTOSENSITIVE MATERIAL: Slid - Kodak elite 100
