The first time I heard about the country El Salvador was, when as a teenager I bought a vinyl record of a polish punk-rock band “Dezerter” with a song called “El Salvador”. It seems to me, that media have always depicted the country from the angle of war or military turbulence. For example, as it is in the book I read “Soccer war” written by the master of polish reportage - Ryszard Kapuscinski. There is no doubt, that countries of Central America have suffered from hideous exploitation as far as from the Colombian to the present times. El Salvador as its neighbors has been lashed by many crises, political instabilities or drug gangs shifting narcotics to the reach north especially the USA. Statistics say, that the country is on the leading position of the most dangerous country in the world after the war zone. Due to all those reasons, I decided to limit my time in El Salvador to the absolute minimum, passing through it transiting. It was even more significant to me when right before entering the state my camera was stolen in Nicaragua with all my two month photographic record from the forests of Costa Rica and Panama. Today, I know, just transiting the country, has been a mistake. Perhaps, I didn't meet hordes of western tourists but instead I found the most friendly people in Central America.
