Controversial dam in Bakun Borneo island. I will be the second largest dam in Asia. Once in operation, the Bakun dam will put 700 km² of land under water. The rainforest of this part of Borneo has some of the highest rates of endemic plants and animals. It means they will be lost forever. Construction of the dam required the relocation of around 10 000 indigenous people.
